Andy Goldsworthy

Welcome to Elburton Heating LTD. We formed as a company 23 April 2021.

I have spent the last 18 years working as a Service & Repair Engineer at British Gas. Prior to working at British Gas I was in the Royal Navy and served 23 years from 1980 until 2003. I have travelled to many regions of the world and worked with numerous foreign and Commonwealth personnel.

On leaving the Royal Navy in 2003 I was accepted by British Gas into their adult training scheme. I spent 8 months away at the British Gas Training Academy in Thatcham achieving NVQ level 2 in gas maintenance and my ACS certificates.

I then worked as a Servicing Fitter for 2 years within British Gas carrying out annual gas appliance servicing and undertaking basic maintenance.

In 2005 I was recommended for the role of Technical Engineer and went on to complete my NVQ level 3 at Filton College, Bristol, where I was taught how to fault find and wire. I continued working as a Technical Engineer at British Gas until 2021, repairing all types of gas appliances, providing upgrade solutions and providing advice to our customers in how to get the best from their heating systems.

The knowledge and experience attained during my time with British Gas across all makes and models of boilers, solving central heating wiring problems and other gas appliances is second-to-none.

Sadly in 2020, during the pandemic, British Gas parent company Centrica decided that it would redefine the terms and conditions that all of its Engineers worked under, to the detriment of its loyal engineers. Many hundreds of engineers were either fired as the new terms were unworkable for families or because they refused to accept the new terms on principle.

Dan, my business partner and co-owner of Elburton Heating, and myself decided it was time to leave. It had become impossible for me to work the way British Gas wanted without allowing our quality of workmanship and customer service to suffer.

We formed Elburton Heating Ltd with a plan to give an excellent service to our customers with the technical excellence we had previously gained.
